About Sharpe Ecology

Sharpe Ecology is an independent ecological consultancy founded in 2012

Sharpe Ecology was founded in 2012 by Dr Fiona Sharpe MCIEEM. Fiona Sharpe has over 15 years of ecological experience within the ecological consultancy sector and in conservation research. With the services of licensed and highly experienced surveyors and field ecologists,  this Worcestershire-based consultancy undertakes a wide range of habitat and species surveys throughout the UK.


 

Fiona Sharpe BSc (Hons) PhD MCIEEM holds a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Animal Biology from the University of St Andrews, a PhD in Avian Ecology from the University of Bath and is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).  With a background in  lapwing conservation and  previous experience  working in a senior position within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy, she undertakes a broad range of  habitat  surveys, including phase 1, NVC/phase 2 and hedgerow habitat surveys. Fiona has a specialist interest in birds and is skilled surveyor of great crested newts (NE survey licence holder), bats (NE survey lience holder), reptiles, badgers, otters and water voles.  Fiona has prepared numerous successful mitigation licence applications for bats and badgers and works closely with a Registered Consultant for bat mitigation class licences and other protected species work.

Projects


Sharpe Ecology has been responsible for the delivery and management of a variety of ecology projects across both public and private sectors. Clients have included local authorities, large- and small-scale consultancies, housing developers, commercial organisations (including highways, railways and industry),  private landowners and individual house holders.


We also work closely with local organisations and provide ecological advice and support for The Avon Navigation Trust and Abbey Forestry.
